1,400, 6,500 and 25,000 people? Meet the impact of the “FullAbility” programme at Lidl Poland

News
Workshop participant wearing simulation equipment to experience disability, supported by a facilitator during an inclusion training session as part of the Lidl Poland programme.

Last year, we joined this programme without hesitation, seeing that Lidl Poland is doing everything to make diversity part of everyday reality — not just a slogan.

The goal of the first stage was broad, comprehensive inclusion education, reaching the entire team across Poland.

Here’s what we achieved together over the past year:

  • 25,000 people completed training on the rights of people with disabilities.
  • 6,500 leaders took part in webinars debunking myths about disability.
  • 1,400 store and warehouse managers joined workshops on inclusive leadership and educational experiences that helped shift perspectives.
  • We trained recruiters in inclusive recruitment practices.
  • We launched an anonymous support line to help employees and their families obtain disability certificates.
  • As a result, within one year, the number of employees with disabilities in teams doubled.

In addition, systemic solutions and new benefits were introduced — including extra days off, non-refundable support and reasonable accommodations.

Today, Lidl Poland is one of the few organisations in the country that meets all 10 principles of effective disability inclusion defined by the ILO Global Business and Disability Network, which we represent in Poland.

As Aleksandra Robaszkiewicz, Director of Corporate Communications at Lidl Poland, said:

“At Lidl, our goal is for every person to feel safe and be assessed solely based on their potential. After a year of intensive work, we feel ready for the next stage of building a fully inclusive organisational culture.”

There wouldn’t be enough space to name all the incredible people who were part of this journey.

So we would like to express our sincere thanks to Martyna Szczepańska — the project leader — for her commitment, trust, partnership and the “full ability” of the entire team in delivering such a model programme.

    Lidl Poland — congratulations.
